Tuen Mun Hospital said on Friday that the patient visited the accident and emergency department on October 18 and was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to his condition.
A hospital spokesperson said: “In the emergency department, the patient was given a sedative to assist with further medical procedures.”
“Before being transferred to the ICU, medical staff discovered that the dose of the sedative injection the patient had received was 10 times the prescription.”
A spokesperson said the patient was sent to the ICU as per original arrangements, showed no unusual reactions and was under close monitoring by medical staff.
The patient’s condition is currently stable and he has been transferred to a general ward.
The hospital declined to release the patient’s gender or age, citing privacy concerns.
