The beauty industry is full of quick fixes to dull hair, but many of the ingredients you need can be found in nature.
Some claim that aloe vera promotes scalp and hair follicle health, supporting better growth.
Although there’s limited evidence that aloe vera can help hair grow faster, WebMD confirms that the benefits do exist.
“Researchers believe that a compound found in this plant, aloenin, is the main factor in promoting hair growth as seen in patients with a type of hair loss called alopecia,” says WebMD.

“It is used to improve hair health, reduce breakage and contribute to hair growth.”
But that’s not all: Anecdotal evidence suggests that aloe vera can also remove oil and restore a healthy environment.
“Aloe vera contains enzymes that break down fats, helping to remove excess oil (sebum) from your hair,” says WebMD.
Hairstylist and McLeod Bradley hairdresser Olivia Jones says that’s why aloe vera is one of her favourite homemade remedies.
“My favourite home remedies are aloe vera, onion juice and coconut oil,” the expert told GB News.
“Aloe contains proteolytic enzymes that repair dead skin cells on the scalp. [and] Acts as a natural conditioner.
“Regular use helps balance the pH level of the scalp, [creates] A happy environment for hair growth.
“If you have the plant at home, take a leaf, scoop out the contents and apply it to your scalp and hair for about 30 minutes. Then rinse with warm water.”
The gel can be applied directly to the hair or scalp by massaging it with your hands.
“To lock in moisture, apply a few drops of castor oil and massage into your skin,” recommends WebMD, confirming that leaving it on for 30 minutes is the optimal amount of time.

Causes of thinning hair
There are several causes for hair thinning, including modifiable factors like diet and lifestyle, both of which affect hair quality and growth.
“[This] “This can lead to poor hair quality and restricted blood flow to the hair follicles, causing congestion in the scalp,” Jones explains.
Changes in hair thickness may also reflect age-related hormone declines, which may not be addressed by hair treatments alone.
