Natural Health Professionals Open Portsmouth Clinic
PORTSMUTH — People looking for new ways to improve their health may find answers at a new Portsmouth clinic that focuses on overall health through nutritional counseling. Dr. Michael Blackman, Portsmouth, New Hampshire opened Complementary Applied Nutrition at 27 Albany St. The clinic focuses on creating customized diet and supplement programs designed for individual patient needs. Dr. Blackman sees patients of all ages and backgrounds, and many suffer from fatigue, weight gain, inflammation, depression/anxiety, insomnia, hormonal issues, immune support, skin conditions, and digestive issues. I am looking for help with a problem or other concern.
Dr. Blackman was previously based in Dover, New Hampshire, where he practiced chiropractic for over 20 years. While he was in school, he also gave nutritional counseling. After seeing the benefits to his patients, he decided to specialize in the functional medicine aspect and moved to Portsmouth where he could more easily see clients from Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
“Complementary Applied Nutrition offers science-based natural health solutions,” says Dr. Blackman. “We’ll start with a detailed individual consultation, a physical exam, and some diagnostic tests. After getting the information we need and discussing the patient’s concerns and goals, we’ll create a customized plan. Over the next few weeks and months. Over the course of months, we meet regularly with patients to assess progress and individualize program needs.”
As part of the diagnosis, Dr. Blackman offers nutritional response testing. It is a non-invasive system that analyzes the body to identify the underlying causes of health conditions. When these are corrected through safe, natural and nutritional means, the body is able to repair itself and maintain a more optimal state of health.
Dr. Blackman points out that among his most frequent patients are working women with children who may or may not be suffering from fatigue and battling hormonal issues. He points out that dietary adjustments can make a big difference to energy levels. Younger people also seek help as they seek the best way to stay healthy as they age.
Since the clinic opened, there has been an influx of clients, and Dr. Blackman has already doubled his staff. “I think this kind of therapy fills a need for a lot of people that other therapies haven’t been able to answer,” he says. We also like the fact that it takes time, we don’t just give you pills and send you home, we start a relationship with you, do regular assessments and make sure you’re healthier. We help you achieve your life.
Dr. Blackman is passionate about his field and excited to help more people discover how nutritional assessment can improve their health. I’ve been in the field and amassed a huge amount of knowledge,” he says. “I know this can be a solution to many health problems, so I want to share this with people who need it.”
