HealthCare: Draft Rules For Medical Council Registration Act Prepared | Chennai News

CHENNAI: More than six months after the deadline set by the Madras High Court expired, the draft revised Madras Medical Council Registration Act, 1914 has been submitted to the state health department. The court ordered amendments to ensure Tamil elections. The Nadu Medical Council, the statutory body governing medical practice, can formulate and hold new rules. As per the old law, the state assembly reserved one post for a member from Andhra Pradesh and there was no option to conduct online voting to elect members. The court also asked the government to ensure that medical registration is updated. After several rounds of deliberation and debate, the Ministry of Justice revised the law. “We have handed over the draft to the health department. Doctors’ bodies such as the Indian Medical Association and the Tennessee Government Doctors Association have asked the government to publish the draft notification on its website. The delay in the amendments is due to They said elections to the Tamil Nadu Medical Council, a statutory body established under the provisions of the Madras Medical Registration Act, 1914, would also be delayed.At present, the council remains under control of the government and its candidates. Under the guidance of government-appointed members, the council continues to register and issue licenses to candidates who have completed their MBBS education in institutions recognized by the National Medical Council. It also issues Postgraduate Registration Certificates, No Objection Certificates and Certificates of Good Conduct. However, the doctors said that the Commission does not respond to complaints of breaches of professional conduct, negligence or unethical conduct by doctors. “We want rules that make the council an electoral body with statutory powers,” said Dr K. Senthil, former president of the council. “The government must ensure that the council elects a majority of members. There can be no majority for the government’s candidates,” he said.

Police officer arrested for forging medical certificate

Panaji police constable Nitesh Chodankar has been arrested for allegedly forging a medical certificate to obtain sick leave. The certificate was sent for verification, but it turned out to be fake. The constable presented the documents as genuine and deceived the authorities and resumed his duties. The police officer produced false medical certificates six times in one year.
