LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The Southern Nevada Health District announced it is working with the Clark County School District on a tuberculosis investigation involving an individual who was at multiple school campuses.
The health district said the person had active tuberculosis and was on the school campus while ill, potentially spreading the disease to others.
Based on the health district's preliminary investigation, this individual had minimal close contact with people at most of the campuses he attended. But it turns out that students and staff at Ruth Deskin Elementary School in the northwest Las Vegas Valley may have been exposed to tuberculosis. All individuals identified as close contacts of the patient have been notified.
The health district has set up an information line for people who may have additional questions regarding the investigation. We are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by calling 702-759-INFO (4636) or 866-767-5038.
