LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Indiana’s Marion County Public Health Department is advising people who visited the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis for the April 8 solar eclipse event that they may have been exposed to measles. .
The infected person is not a resident of Indiana, but had traveled to the state with an infectious disease, according to a news release from the Department of Health.
There have been no confirmed measles cases in Marion County this year.
People exposed to highly contagious measles on April 8th are most likely to develop symptoms before April 22nd, but no later than April 29th, based on the incubation period of the virus. .
Symptoms of measles include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, small white spots inside the mouth, and a rash that starts at the hairline and face and spreads to the torso, arms, and legs. This virus spreads easily through droplets in the air after a person coughs or sneezes.
If you have symptoms, stay home and call your health care provider right away. If you need measles vaccination, contact your local health department or health care provider.
