Tucson (KVOA) — The Pima County Health Department is extending its free COVID-19 Test to Treat program with some changes.
Test to Treat is part of a nationwide federal initiative to ensure timely access to treatment for people who cannot get treatment after being infected with COVID-19.
County programs will resume on September 26 and run Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The Department of Health’s East Clinic will no longer offer in-person testing and prescriptions after Sept. 20.
Teresa Cullen, Pima County Health Commissioner, said: “And I would like to thank FEMA for being a valuable partner throughout the pandemic and helping to provide vaccination, testing and treatment for COVID-19.”
Individuals who have already tested positive can call 520-724-7895 to determine their eligibility for medication. Individuals who meet certain eligibility requirements will immediately receive a prescription for antiviral drugs against COVID-19. No cost or insurance required.
You may be eligible for oral antiviral therapy after testing positive if you:
- they are over 12 years old
- weigh at least 88 pounds
- have mild to moderate symptoms
- High risk of severe COVID-19 illness
Individuals are asked to provide general information such as contact information and when they tested positive for COVID-19.
