At the 2023 Kansas State Reconstruction Conference in Wichita on June 6, three Hayes received Mental Health Awards.
Gina Anderson, director of Hayes’ High Plains Independence, received the Sue Budd and Dennis Budd Exemplary Life Awards.
This award was launched to recognize two exceptional mental health consumers whose leadership and advocacy has shaped the consumer experience in Kansas. This award is given annually to consumers who have distinguished themselves for their energy and spirit and who encourage and inspire others in their journey of recovery.
Anderson was also honored for six years of service on the Kansas Consumer Advisory Board.
Hayes’ Debra Michels wins Unity Award. The award recognizes companies that have successfully brought together consumers and non-consumers in a collaborative way to foster recovery. Nominations for this award were received from consumer-run organizations, mental health centers, clubhouse programs, individual consumers, and mental health treatment providers.
Hays Psychiatrist Dr. Mark Romlime has been awarded the Chamberlain Rupp Recovery Champion Award. This award is given annually to mental health providers who have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills on behalf of Kansas consumers and the state’s recovery movement.
