Have You Seen This? Arachnophobia in action

Front Porch — I'm not scared of spiders. Once, when I was a toddler, my mother found me playing with a black widow in the garage. She was disappointed, but I was just excited about the charming little friend I had found.

Despite this general love for spiders, I've actually had some experiences with arachnids that left me terrified. I was attending a family gathering in Henry's Lake, Idaho. My cousin and I were both 9 years old and wanted to go on an adventure. We found a large tree stump near one of the lake's coves, rolled it into the river, and boarded it when it flowed into open water.

We named it “USS Squidship” because of the long, twisted roots that extend outward from the bottom of the trunk. We had no idea how we were going to navigate the ship or make it back to our family's cabin (which was now a few hundred meters away), but we were excited to be part of this maiden voyage. I was there.

What we didn't know was that the USS Squidship was home to dozens of large spiders. Eventually, water began to seep into the bark, and a desperate spider crawled out of its hiding place. We tried to brush them off, but there were too many.

Soon we were covered head to toe in spiders. Fishermen on a passing boat heard our screams and came to our rescue. They weren't too keen on dragging a few spider-infested kids onto the boat, but they were kind enough to give us a ride to shore.

I bring this up because even the bravest of us have Spider-Man moments.as seen in next videothese moments probably happen much more often for people with arachnophobia.

I love how this guy's situation escalated so quickly. Stumbling back to the stairs is a natural reaction to an unexpected spider sighting. But the way he tumbles into the dirt afterwards shows how panicked he really was.

“I'm scared of spiders,” he explains in the video's caption. “Then, on my way to work, I came very close to walking into a web involving one of Satan’s little minions.”

What a pathetic guy. I hope he recovers from his fall and is able to escape Satan's little minions in the future.
