A doctor who pressured patients with advanced cancer to pay £13,000 for alternative treatments such as sound and light therapy has been sacked.
Julian Kenyon, 77, ran the former Dove Clinic, a private medical center in Twyford, Hampshire.
The Medical Practitioners’ Tribunal (MPTS) heard he falsely told the man: “You have had all the standard treatments and you are running out of treatment options.”
He said the doctor’s actions were “completely unacceptable, morally culpable and shameful”.
According to MTPS, Dr. Kenyon’s prescription in May 2022 included sonodynamic/photodynamic therapy as well as the supplements cannabidiol, Clarycel, and Simylase.
The tribunal said the patient was required to pay a further £20,000 if initial treatment was not successful.
He was told he had a 10% chance of being cured of stage 4 prostate cancer, but this was a “total fabrication”, the MTPS has found.
Patients were “made to feel vulnerable and pressured into receiving expensive treatments that were not in their best interest,” it added.
The man ultimately refused treatment, but died in May 2023 after continuing conventional treatment.
In 2003, Dr Kenyon was accused of conducting fake allergy tests in an undercover investigation by the BBC’s Inside Out program.
In 2013, a court found he failed to provide proper care. The following year, he announced that he had made misleading cancer treatment claims.
The latest MTPS judgment bars Dr Kenyon from practicing medicine in the UK.
His former practice went into liquidation in March 2023, with debts of more than £154,000, according to Companies House.
