Getting a serious workout in at the gym is great, but most people don’t have the space or money to fit all that equipment in their home. The GymPad Bench is the latest product to solve that problem by combining multiple exercise machines into one compact package.

The device, which is currently the subject of a Kickstarter campaign, is made by Hong Kong-based GymPad Co. When not in use, the entire device can be stored in a box on wheels that is 82 cm long, 46 cm high, and 40 cm wide (32.3 x 18.1 x 15.7 in).

For simple exercises like lifting the two included dumbbells, users sit on the bench’s padded lid and use the box as a weight bench, or they can pull out the padded seat extension from one end and raise the lid halfway up to use it as an angled backrest.

GymPad bench magnetic resistance is adjustable from 16-80kg (35-176lbs)

For more advanced exercises like pulldowns and chest presses, users flip and unfold a tower-like apparatus equipped with two resistance cables. Depending on the exercise being performed, these cables can connect to a single pull bar or two hand stirrups.

By turning a knurled dial on the tower end of the bench, you can adjust the magnetic resistance of the cable from 16 to 80 kg (35 to 176 lbs).

There’s also an optional rowing machine attachment, which you lay on the floor in line with the bench, and the pull bar ribbon connects to the same magnetic resistance wheels used on the tower’s two cables, but the rowing machine can’t be stored inside the bench when not in use.

Using a wirelessly connected smartphone iOS/Android app, users can track stats such as repetitions, range of motion and total weight lifted, as well as create custom workouts.

Assuming Gym Pad Bench Once production is complete, the product will be shipped to backers in September. Pledges range from $799 (estimated retail price of $1,699) for the basic system to $1,599 (estimated retail price of $2,499) for a package that includes the rowing machine attachment.
