Borderland veterans have access to a holistic option for dealing with mental and health issues.
On Wednesday, Endeavors, a national service organization, held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Veteran Wellness Center at 12135 Pebble Hills Blvd. in East El Paso.
Among those in attendance was D-El Paso’s US Congressman Veronica Escobar. Heather Wilson, President of the University of Texas at El Paso. and State Senator Cesar Blanco, D-El Paso.
Scheduled to open in 2024, the 42,000-square-foot center will provide behavioral health and wellness services to veterans and their families. It is designed to bridge the gap in mental health care and wellness services for veterans, regardless of service, discharge status, family relationships, and their families.
“Our approach moves away from the traditional ‘care for the disease’ model to one that prioritizes health and quality of life,” said Dr. Jill Palmer, Behavioral Health Officer at Endeavors, in a news release. “By integrating services, we hope to reduce suicide rates and enable veterans to live more fulfilling lives.”
The state-of-the-art facility will be the second veteran wellness center to be built by Endeavors. The first is San Antonio.
The El Paso Center features a unique wellness model that integrates mental health care, physical health care, holistic treatments, and support services aimed at improving quality of life.
In a news release, Chip Fulgham, Air Force veteran and President and Chief Operating Officer of Endeavors, said, “We are excited about the opportunity to bring a holistic approach to wellness to El Paso veterans and their families. increase.
“From mental health services to fitness and wellness needs, this facility offers much to improve the lives of those who have sacrificed so much for our country.”
The center includes a mental health clinic, a fitness center accessible to injured veterans, a café, a community room, and a wellness hub.
A range of veteran-owned businesses focused on onsite childcare, transition support, veteran benefits assistance and wellness will be available.

Services are provided free or at a reduced cost to veterans and their families.
The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic in El Paso, which Endeavors has operated since 2017, will be attached to the center, the news release said.
“We are proud to open our Veteran Wellness Center in El Paso. As a veteran, I know firsthand the lingering effects that military service can have on all aspects of life,” said Endeavors. CEO John Allman said in a news release.
“By housing all these comprehensive services under one roof, we are able to provide much-needed services to the men and women who have valiantly served their country and their families. Building will provide the highest quality behavioral health and wellness services to those who need it most.”
