Future site options being considered for Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute

Penn State University Health Department The company announced that it is considering the possibility of establishing a new base. Pennsylvania Psychiatric InstituteInpatient and outpatient services.

The lease for Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute’s current location at 2501 N. Third St. in Harrisburg expires May 31, 2026. To date, Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute has not been able to extend its lease, according to the Penn State Department of Health. As a result, Penn State Health said it must explore other options for relocating Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute to ensure continuity of services for patients. Work on the new site should begin by the end of this summer, Penn State Health officials said.

New candidate locations include: Penn State Department of Health Holy Spirit Medical Center Penn State Health is securing a site in East Pennboro Township for a new hospital and is also looking for space for outpatient psychiatry, behavioral health and addiction treatment services for the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute.

“Now and in the future, we are committed to providing access to the same high-quality behavioral health services that Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute has been known for for many years,” Deborah Addo, president and chief operating officer of the Penn State Department of Health, said in a news release. “As we strive to make decisions that are best for our community, we are guided by our mission to improve health and our vision to be the most trusted health care provider in Pennsylvania.”

Penn State Health said it expects to announce a decision on the future location of Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute’s inpatient and outpatient services by early summer.

“We are committed to making the transition as smooth as possible and minimizing interruptions in care and services for our patients and their families, clinicians, staff, educators, students and researchers,” Dr. Erica Sanders, chair of the department of psychiatry and behavioral health at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, said in a news release.
