Officials said the unique outdoor athletic court is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024, weather permitting. Completion would be no later than spring 2025.

The construction of this court aligns with Owyhee County’s larger goal of helping the community develop long-term healthy lifestyles and combat obesity.
“Health and wellness are really essential to living a long and happy life, so the real goal of the National Fitness Campaign is to make health and wellness accessible to everyone, regardless of age or ability,” said Mackenzie Coltrin of the National Fitness Campaign.
Coltrin said the outdoor courts will be free and open to the public, measuring 38 by 38 feet, and the digital training platform will be provided free of charge.

“This is really relationship-based work. We all come from small communities and we know what a difference partnerships like this really make,” she said.
The total anticipated cost of the project is $200,000. The funds will equip the fitness court with a variety of exercise stations, including strength training, stretching and agility training.
Despite Thursday’s groundbreaking, it’s not finished yet: The courthouse still needs $20,000 in support from sponsors and donors to get it finished.
