Anyone who has ever been to a fitness expo knows that there are events like: a lot of protein bars have been handed out and sampled, many of which taste more or less the same. But today, Olympia Expo attendees will be introduced to a brand new bar with a taste unlike any other. It’s Frank Sepe’s Protein Treats, Sepe Nutrition’s Marshmallow Flavored Crisps.

If you don’t go to the expo and can’t try the bar for yourself, you should definitely give this bar a try. This is great stuff. A small group of M&F staff tried it out last night and all agreed that it tasted similar to a Rice Krispie treat. It’s soft, chewy, and satisfying…and contains a whopping 15 grams of protein, only 3 grams of net carbs, and just 2 grams of sugar.
Correction: Not strictly a bar. “I don’t like the word ‘bar,'” Sepe says. “It’s more like a protein snack than a snack. It looks like a Rice Krispie treat, but it’s definitely lower in calories, higher in protein, very low in carbohydrates, gluten-free, and super delicious.”
Sepe and his team worked on the product for over a year, searching for the right taste, texture and macronutrient profile. Needless to say, he is very happy with the end result.
“Before I decided to create the product, I was searching the market for something satisfying to have as a dessert, but without an insane amount of sugar or calories,” he says. “And I couldn’t find anything. Every bar I tried tasted like chemicals and was just disgusting. It’s floating around with sugar alcohols, so it’s basically just garbage.” So I decided to find the right formula. My marshmallow treats don’t get hard. They’re not like hockey pucks. They stay consistent and taste really good.”
