The CrossFit Games, the signature annual event for the branded fitness program of the same name, kicks off Thursday at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth.
FORT WORTH, Texas — If you’re overwhelmed by the excitement of the Olympics and looking for more opportunities to watch athletes push themselves to the limit in the heat of competition, 2024 CrossFit Games I’ll be in town on time.
The 2024 CrossFit Games kick off at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth starting Thursday. The four-day event runs through Aug. 11 and will draw athletes from around the world to town to compete.
According to the CrossFit website, CrossFit is a fitness program that consists of diverse, high-intensity functional movements. The organization calls its athletes “the fittest people on the planet,” and the top 40 men and women compete in seven qualifying tournaments around the world for the title of fittest person.
While that event is sold out, the Will Rogers Memorial Center near Dickies Arena will also host a CrossFit Festival Experience, which will be open to the public and feature vendors, a livestream viewing area and a spectator workout space where people can try out the athletes’ workouts.

“Fort Worth is a proven and accessible location for hosting high-profile events, and we’re excited to add more sports and entertainment options to the state-of-the-art Dickies Arena,” said Don Fall, CrossFit CEO. stated in a press release“A love of sports is in the DNA of most Texans, and I can’t imagine a more enthusiastic audience for the Olympics.”
The competitions include team and individual events, with competitive exercise testing athletes in 10 areas of fitness including cardiovascular endurance, stamina, flexibility, power, coordination, agility, balance and precision. These events include: Ring Muscle Up, 42,195 meters rowed,or 600 yard log haulOften the challenges are unknown until the athlete competes.
