Fitness tips to help you stay healthy this holiday season

Panama City, Florida (WMBB) – From dinner rolls and sweet potatoes to pumpkin pie and whipped cream, it can be difficult to maintain your fitness goals during the holidays, but there are steps you can take to prevent excess weight gain.

“Spread out your meals and try not to eat 3,000 calories at once. I know it’s tempting to sit down and eat it all at once. Go have some turkey and gravy and relax a little. Eat as much as you can. ,” says Kijung Lee, Fitness 360 personal trainer.

Fasting and exercise can also help you overcome the feeling of “food coma” after dinner.

“If I eat a lot tonight, I’m going to fast for as long as possible. So if I eat at 5 o’clock tonight, I probably won’t eat until 5 o’clock tomorrow. Go for a walk, because just walking will speed up your metabolic processes. , you won’t feel lethargic or want to spend the rest of the week doing nothing,” Lee said.

You don’t have to miss out on the gym or holiday fun. Lee said there are workouts you can do at home to get a good pump before Thanksgiving dinner.

“Basic squats, bodyweight lunges, and bowed lunges work wonders, so you don’t have to spend a lot of time doing them. A healthy band can do as many exercises as you demonstrate. Don’t factor in time, location, or cost,” Lee said.

Consistency is key, says Lee, so find the form of exercise that works best for you.

“After 35 years of being a trainer, I’ve learned that if you find something you like, stick with it. That’s how you stay consistent and get results. , let’s move our hearts and minds,” Lee added.
