Effects of Soft Drinks on Liver Health – Study Results:

This was an observational study of 98,786 women conducted over 20.9 years. The researchers analyzed patients based on self-reported liver disease and death from fibrosis, cirrhosis, or chronic hepatitis. Researchers found that women who consumed one or more sugary drinks per day were more likely to die from liver cancer and chronic liver disease than women who consumed three or fewer sugary drinks per month. found to be significantly higher.
“To our knowledge, this is the first study to report an association between consumption of sugary drinks and mortality from chronic liver disease,” said lead author Longan Zhao of the Channing Network School of Medicine at Brigham University.
