DANVILLE — The Montour County coroner has confirmed that one person has died outside the Geisinger Medical Center Danville campus as police actively investigate the shooting. According to news partners at WBRE/WYOU Eyewitness News:.
Geisinger’s chief medical officer said the deceased was a hospital employee. Found in employee parking lot. No other injuries have been reported at this time.
Hospitals allow patients in and out of the emergency room while they go through the “screening process.”
Police are currently investigating the shooting. The suspect is unknown at this time and has not been taken into custody, according to the coroner. He also said there were no witnesses.
Authorities said they searched every floor of the hospital but could not find the suspect.
State police are on the scene, along with units from Montour and Columbia counties.
A Geisinger official said it plans to offer counseling services to its employees starting Saturday.
