It’s easy to go through life feeling like you’re not good enough. Especially in American culture, people often look to external factors such as pay and material possessions to determine their status and worth.
“From the time we’re born, we’re just taught how we’re supposed to show up,” says the life coach. francesca hogi“And in order to be good enough, we have to do, we have to achieve, we have to have, and we have to focus on, and all these things. .”
The problem, she says, is that seeking validation outside of yourself is “a slippery slope and a bottomless pit.” You are “never satisfied with enough because there is always something else to accomplish”, another goal to accomplish.
Hogi’s book “how to find true love” will be released in April 2025. When she sees clients struggling with self-esteem, she suggests exercises to help them rebuild.
Here’s what she tells them to do and why it’s helpful.
“Imagine a newborn baby.”
Hogi presents clients with hypothetical scenarios.
“Imagine a newborn baby somewhere in the world,” she says. “It could be your baby, even a hypothetical baby. What must you do for that baby to deserve love, care, tenderness, and health?”
Some people believe that in order for a baby to become good, a lot of effort is required. “But if you can accept that they don’t have to do anything, we love them because they are,” she says, and that means you can It helps you spin your wheels on what you need to do to become the person you deserve — nothing.
“I’m much more comfortable being who I am.”
This exercise helps people begin to question the messages they’ve been hearing about where confidence and self-love should come from.

Hogi has found that this exercise makes people “absolutely healthy” and “absolutely happy,” she says. Plus, she says, they’re much more comfortable being their “authentic” selves. This exercise helps you understand that, after all, “that’s actually my job here, and it’s about being myself.”
