Spring, TX (KTRK) — Two students from Spring ISD at Dekaney High School became ill and were taken to the hospital after requiring medical attention on Thursday afternoon, the school district said.
The incident occurred during lunch, Spring ISD said in a release. A school nurse examined both students and recommended further treatment.
A student sent ABC13 a video that shows more urgency than the district’s explanation. The students are seen lying on the ground, appearing unconscious. Nurses and school staff are seen assisting them.
An ambulance was called to the school and the students were taken to the Houston Northwest Medical Center.
“The Spring ISD Police Department is currently investigating this incident as student safety is our top priority,” the district said, adding that classes continued uninterrupted.
The school district has not released what caused the students to become ill, but said it is investigating what happened and whether it was the result of an overdose. is.
As the video went viral, parents started posting it on social media. The mother of two told her ABC13 that she immediately contacted her children and warned them never to ingest anything from unknown sources.
