A gym chain has suddenly closed all of its stores in one state, leaving employees and customers in shock.
For over a decade, Xperience Fitness has served Wisconsin gym goers in multiple locations.
On June 29, the gym closed its doors without warning, transferring all customer memberships to rival Planet Fitness.
When personal trainer Paige Meyer called before work at Experience Fitness, where she had worked for six years, her manager gave her incredible news.
“He just said, ‘We’re sold. The gym will be closing at 9 tonight.’ It was like, ‘Please contact the customer. I’m sorry,'” Meyer said. fox 11 news.
“He was in tears.”
Within hours she lost her job.
“So there were a lot of people who didn’t know the gym was going to be closed, and all the employees were collecting their belongings,” Meyer said.
“Everyone said it felt like the last day of school.”
Later that night, Xperience Fitness announced the decision on Facebook. directorwrote, “It is with great regret that we announce the permanent closure of all Experience Fitness Clubs in Wisconsin today.”
“This is a very difficult decision to make and we apologize for this unfortunate news.”
The chain thanked its staff and community, saying, “We continue to focus on our members and look forward to continuing to serve our members in Minnesota.”
Customers said they did not understand why the decision was not announced sooner.
“I checked Facebook for a bit before leaving and saw an article about Experience Fitness closing all stores,” said Tom Chambeau, who has been going to the gym for three years.
“And I thought, ‘Wow, that’s amazing. It seemed to be fine yesterday.'”
“And I was just charged yesterday Next It was a monthly fee, so I thought it was kind of a weird timing,” he said.
A former assistant manager told Fox 11 that the company was sold to rival Planet Fitness.
The US Sun reached out to Xperience Fitness for comment.
