When founder Dyson Mentor, better known as Crux, returned to St. Lucia in 2014, he said most people lead fast-paced lives and rely heavily on unhealthy food, especially in the morning. I realized that Recognizing that this was a very unhealthy practice, he decided to start a business to provide healthy options for the general public.
“When I got back to St. Lucia, everyone was eating fast food, eating cold things in the morning, and eating unhealthy things, especially first thing in the morning. Instead, I decided to try to come up with something healthy… at least to spread the healthy eating vibe to the people of St. Lucia.”
Not only is Crux Fruitz strongly rooted in the philosophy of smart snacking and healthy eating, it’s also grounded in science. Companies encourage you to consume fruit for adequate nutrition because fruits contain antioxidants that promote skin and nail health, improved digestion, and even deeper sleep.
Fruit bowls are filled with pineapples, watermelons, kiwis, grapes, papaya, honeydew, mangoes, golden apples, cantaloupe and many more. Fresh coconut water and local juices are also available for those craving a refreshing and healthy drink.
“Hopefully, we would like to provide schools with a healthy eating program without juice. but I don’t think I’ve had the right tools or people to reach out to make it happen. I always say that I can come to Crux Fruitz and have a healthy breakfast.
“For anyone wanting to start a business, I would say that patience is the best and is patience. People always tell you to try this and try that, but try their speed and go with your speed. When you feel the time is right, do it.It all comes down to capital. If you don’t have money, start small. My mother always said ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’. Like, little by little. Take your time. “
