She called me and I answered it. , she was having a panic attack, but I was able to manage her somehow,” he said. After experiencing a panic attack on her and Hannah’s show on Sept. 24, Paige spoke candidly about her ordeal on stage, which Craig appreciated.
“What we’re finding is that the more honest you are about things, the more people are like, ‘Oh, me too, me too,'” Craig said. “So she’s on this journey to try to figure it out, because it came out of nowhere. She’s sharing this journey with everyone, so she can help others understand it. I hope we can connect and help.”
Recalling what happened, Page admitted that it was her “first real panic attack” that night.
“The funny thing about anxiety is that you don’t even know what it is,” she says. “I was about to go on stage in front of a crowd of 3,000 people, so you might think, ‘Oh yeah, I have stage fright,’ but I’ve done it 50 times before. I’ve been on reality TV for six years, and I can’t say anything that upsets me. I’m like, ‘What’s going on with my body?’ Some of it was frustrating.”
Page has previously revealed that she suffers from “general anxiety,” but has “never really had a panic attack as people would describe it,” adding, “I’ve never had anxiety in my life.” “I had never taken any medication for my illness,” he said.
“I always thought, ‘I’m stronger.’ This is all in my head. I’m strong enough to tell myself I’ll get out of it, but in reality I’m not. It wasn’t,” she said. “Part of the battle is admitting that to yourself.”
To deal with the symptoms of panic attacks, Page said she took beta blockers, which calmed her down physically and allowed her and Hannah’s live show to go ahead.
“I didn’t plan for this to happen,” she explained. “I know I can do this because this is my job. It’s clearly something that’s happening to me and I need to understand.”
For now, Paige is enjoying the many supportive messages and tips she’s received from fans.
“I’m so grateful to the other giglers,” she exclaimed. “Because I don’t feel lonely anymore.”
