(Gray News) – Cold medicines sold at Harris Teater, Heb and other local grocery stores and pharmacies nationwide are being recalled due to defective packaging.

According to the notification issued by Consumer Product Safety CommitteeSafetussin Max Strength Multi-Symptom Cough, and Cold and Flues Tablets Blister Pack packages are included in the recall.

Safe Tessan packages can be pushed through the foil, so children cannot bear it.(CPSC)

Over-the-counter drugs contain acetaminophen. Acetaminophen must be included in pediatric resistant packaging, as required by the Toxicide Prevention Packaging Act.

However, the safetessan package cannot bear children as it can push the tablets through foil and poses a risk of addiction if the contents are engulfed in young children.

Anyone with the drug needs to take it out of sight and reach out from the child.

For information on how to return or dispose of your product for a full refund, please contact Kramer Laboratories at kramerlabs@emerssongroup.com.

Only the package has been recalled and both must be disposed of, not the medicine itself.
