Epilepsy Ireland is appealing to the people of Cork to take part in a 24-hour squat challenge to raise funds for its services.
This challenge began on March 26th to coincide with Purple Day, the biggest fundraiser.
Challenge participants will be asked to recognize an estimated 5,600 people living with epilepsy in the cork 24 hours a day and complete at least 24 squats a day from March 24-28.
People at all fitness levels are welcome to participate in the challenge, and participants can set their own targets and do SUMO squats or chair squats according to their abilities.
Speaking about the new challenges for Purple Day, Cian Dikker, Irish Epilepsy Funding and Development Manager, said the challenge is a great opportunity to show support for people living in epilepsy.
“All squats and all donations will help us continue to work with the Community Resource Officer team across Ireland and continue to invest in research projects on epilepsy, where epilepsy is important.
“Add to this, all the conversations about epilepsy caused by this challenge will help create a more informed and supportive society,” Dicker said.
“Whether you have a personal connection to epilepsy, simply want to support a big purpose or participate, we encourage everyone. The challenge is fun, inclusive, and a great way to get started while making a difference,” he added.
The Squat Challenge site is currently live, allowing people to sign up as individuals or gather groups to sign up as a team.
