The Department of Development and Support for Medical Services (DSDMS) yesterday announced the continuation of several types of surgical procedures, including adult cardiac surgery, pediatric cardiac surgery and thoracic surgery, performed by several Libyan specialists at Tripoli University Hospital.
The group called on Libyans in need of these specialized surgeries to submit the required documents to the subcommittee at Tripoli University Hospital headquarters, along with the following documents:
Galian Hospital continues joint and pelvic surgery
DSDMS announced yesterday that joint and pelvic surgeries continue at Garian Central Hospital, with 24 surgeries currently being performed (an increase from last week’s figure). The surgery was carried out in collaboration with the hospital’s medical staff and the support of DSDMS.
Thoracic and pulmonary surgery
Regarding thoracic and lung surgeries, the DSDMS reported that four surgeries were performed at Tripoli University Hospital for two cases in the south, one from Sulman, and one from Tripoli.

Last Thursday (October 12), Zuwara Al-Bahri General Hospital announced that it had performed its first two knee replacement surgeries. These were carried out in collaboration with hospital medical staff and under the supervision of DSDMS. DSDMS provided all the necessary medical needs to carry out these surgeries, Zwara Hospital said.

DSDMS said that in addition to training medical personnel in delicate surgeries, surgical procedures will continue to be performed in several hospitals in many specialties.
This is part of the Tripoli government’s plan to centralize treatment within Libya to get value for state spending and convenience for the population. All operations are provided free of charge.
