GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – On Saturday, the community united for the 21st Annual Stomp Out Stigma Walk for Mental Health.
The walk started at the Steward Avenue parking lot on the Grand Valley State University campus and continued along the Riverwalk.
Western Michigan Mental Health Foundation, “Be nice.” We host an event every year. Organizers and volunteers say people need to empower themselves and others to overcome mental health stigma.
“It’s hard to confront someone about what’s going on right now, but please do so,” said Sammy Figlski. “I don’t know how one word you say will affect their day.”
Participation in the walking was free. The nonprofit will raise money at the event to support mental health in the community by funding schools and businesses.
