The Baton Rouge General’s Arts in Medicine program celebrated its 10th anniversary with the opening of a new gallery on October 13, bringing hope to patients and creative activities that promote healing.
The event, held at the hospital’s Bluebonnet Cafe, showcased 78 works of art and awarded first, second, and third place winners. Margaret Hawkins’ ‘View From a Bee’ tops the list.
Entertainment was provided by the John Bishop Jazz Trio and the Broadmoor Baptist Quartet.
One of the works of art, “Megan: Miracles and Masterpieces,” has a special relationship with the Arts in Medicine program. The painting depicts a young woman in a hospital bed with a paintbrush in her hand. This image stuck to artist Anna Hingle, as the girl in the painting is her niece. In 2017, Megan Saffiotti suffered a sudden cardiac arrest when she was just 18 years old.
Lagniappe Woman’s Club recognizes perceptions of domestic violence
The GFWC Lagniappe Woman’s Club held its monthly meeting on October 17th at the Broadmoor United Methodist Church.
Members wore purple in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month.the hostess he was Diane Bruin When Libby Fisaccary. The speaker is Scott Black, an amateur bird photographer. Black showed me a variety of bird photos taken at his home and in his baton Rouge, around Louisiana, and elsewhere.
