IWhat the reporter who wrote this article should note is that Donald Trump and Kamala Harris’ Health Policy on September 18th I devoted at least one column to her one and only source: a great one. But the headline, “Harris under RGV’s microscope, Trump’s health care policy,” suggests the lens was dusty or foggy.

Why does the media, much of it insist on civility towards Mr. Trump? He doesn’t know what the word “policy” means. During the debate, Harris spoke at length about the proposed policy. When asked, Trump offered one concept of one policy.

Mr. Trump is treated in print as if he were a serious candidate for our nation’s highest office. He was impeached twice during his one term in office. He is a convicted felon. One of his contributions to health care was that he and his lawyers went to court 60 times to overturn the Affordable Care Act. He lost 60 times. He brags about overturning Roe v. Wade. Two women have died since these protections were destroyed, but I’m sure there are more we don’t know about yet. His misogyny is obvious.

I can’t wait to read all about Project 2025. Therein lies everything he plans to do if elected. Just some of the documents I’ve read and heard are amazing.

There was no mention in the policy article that the $35 cap on insulin and $20 copay cap on medications were the result of President Joe Biden’s direct actions. When asked what he would do (during the debate), Mr. Trump’s answer was, if he wanted a steak, he’d have milquetoast. He compares drug prices to “other countries,” and says he is prepared to sign an executive order “to find out.”

It’s a big deal. Executive orders are not laws. They have very few teeth.

He said he opposes late-term abortions and instead supports policies that allow access to prenatal care and contraception. Thanks to Trump, women’s reproductive health care is nowhere to be found. One recent death occurred because the woman required dilation and curettage, a common and simple procedure that would result in a lengthy prison sentence if performed. Doctors are concerned. The other woman died 20 hours later after doctors postponed surgery in accordance with the law, in connection with being on the “brink” of death. By the end of that period, it was too late to save the woman’s life.

Trump has also declared that his opponents want late-term abortions, even after birth. In one program, Democrats even said they wanted to “execute” babies after birth.

The lens of that microscope needs to be broadened to include President Trump’s words and actions regarding women’s reproductive health. This is no longer about politics. We surpassed that standard a long time ago.

This is about human rights threats. Health care for women and others is a right, not a privilege. The man in the suit in the high place is not a doctor, nurse, or midwife.
