CNU to host panel on diversity in health care

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Christopher Newport University is hosting a panel discussion on diversity in healthcare leadership.

The panel includes physicians, nurses and other clinical leaders from Sentara Careplex Hospital in Hampton.


They are scheduled to meet with the following people National Association of Minority Premedical Students (MAPS) Christopher Newport University will discuss some of the challenges facing historically underrepresented groups in the medical profession.

“To reduce health disparities and promote multicultural health, it is critical to have health care workers who represent the tapestry of our communities. History is watching us, and we will seize this opportunity. We must connect with young people in our local communities, elevate their voices, empower them, and inspire them to their individual and collective greatness.” Sentara Careplex Hospital Past Chairman of the Medical Executive Committee.

The event will be held at the Peebles Theater on the CNU campus on Tuesday, January 23rd from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.
