CMS Provides Update on Frontier Community Health Integration Project (FCHIP) Demonstration
October 23: CMS releases updated version fact sheet For the Frontier Community Health Integration Project (FCHIP) demonstration initiated in 2016 and extended under the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021. The revised fact sheet includes FCHIP details and updated participant list. The FCHIP demonstration aims to develop and test a new model of integrated and coordinated care in the least populated rural counties. The specific objective is to support critical access hospitals (CAHs) and regional delivery systems to keep patients within the region who might otherwise be transferred to distant health care providers. CMS Announces Third and Final Cohort of States to Join All-Payer Health Equity Approach and Development Advancement (AHEAD) Model
October 28: CMS announced The third and final state cohort to participate in the state’s All Payer Health Equity Approach and Development Advancement (AHEAD) model. Announced in July, the Rhode Island and New York territories join Cohort 1 states of Maryland and Vermont and Cohort 2 states of Connecticut and Hawaii. Under the AHEAD model, CMS and participating countries work to reduce health care spending growth, improve population health through investments in primary care, and promote health equity by addressing disparities in health outcomes. We will cooperate. Each state will have the opportunity to receive up to $12 million to support model implementation activities during the first five to six years of the model.
CMS updates care comparison list of hospitals designated as birth-friendly hospitals
October 30: CMS updated the “birth-friendly” designation icon. comparison of care This is the first time since we rolled out this initiative in October 2023. Hospitals that have demonstrated structural measures of maternal disease in the hospital’s Inpatient Quality Reporting Program received this designation. Icons will be updated with updated data from 2023. CMS created this designation to identify hospitals and health systems that participate in statewide or national Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative Programs and implement evidence-based care to improve maternal health. . 80% of pregnancy-related deaths are preventable, and pregnancy-related death rates are highest among Blacks, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. The “Maternity Friendly” designation is a step toward ensuring that all pregnant and postpartum people have access to quality maternity care.
CMS releases sickle cell disease provider toolkit
October 31: CMS released. Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) Provider Toolkit It focuses on strengthening the infrastructure across care settings for caring for people with SCD, improving care management and supporting the needs of people with SCD. This toolkit includes information about how CMS program coverage can support people with SCD and educational materials for individuals with SCD and other community partners who serve them .
