Climber Stuck for 12 Hours in Crack—The Doctor Prescribed Ketamine

On Friday, October 27th, a climber was stranded at Indian Creek for 12 hours. common cracks, 5.10-FA by Jimmy Dunn and Brian Delaney in 1976. The climber, whose name has not been released, slipped while climbing and landed with his knee in a crack. He was 100 feet from the deck.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. The stranded climber was wearing pants, so his partner was able to procure soap after a quick trip to the van, but pouring water on his leg did little to free it. San Juan County Search and Rescue officials have increased their entry fees. After taking a lap down from the wall, they tried motor oil and medical lubricants. However, my knee remained motionless.

A few hours later, a team from Grand County Search and Rescue arrived to assist. Finally, paramedics administered ketamine to relax the man’s muscles. Rescuers were then able to free the climber using his 7-to-1 hoist system. Miraculously, he escaped with only minor physical injuries, but could be forgiven for avoiding a major crack in the future. The entire ordeal took 12 hours.
