Cigna’s Evanorth Health Services is launching outpatient behavioral health practices to help health insurance companies and providers integrate mental health services and medical care to better meet patient needs.
Research is increasingly showing that patients with multiple chronic medical conditions also tend to have behavioral health problems. Executives at Evanorth, Cigna Group’s pharmacy and provider services business, haven’t forgotten this, either. The practice is therefore designed to “expand access to high-quality in-network therapy to millions of people,” Cigna said ahead of the company’s 2024 Investor Day. said in a statement Thursday.
“Evernorth Behavioral Care Group delivers evidence-based, results-oriented care both online and in-person through a simpler care delivery experience,” the company said.
Evernorth executives say that as part of new practices and services already available in six states and Washington, D.C., patients can schedule an appointment “within 72 hours that meets their unique goals and preferences.” “This guarantees that patients will be seen by a qualified clinician.” Evernorth’s plan is to roll out nationwide by early 2025.
“The vast majority of people struggle to get help when they need it, and individual practitioners lack the tools and technology to facilitate access and measure quality.” said Eva Borden, president of North Health Services Behavioral Health. “Evanose is committed to building a care-her experience that quickly and seamlessly connects patients with the right clinician, while reducing the administrative burden and allowing clinicians to focus on patient care. ”
Evernorth executives said the clinic will participate in the company’s Behavioral Health Measurement Program, which will track various metrics such as “time it takes for patients to schedule an appointment.”
“Quality behavioral health care is critical to a person’s overall health and vitality, and we are relentlessly focused on connecting patients quickly and easily with clinicians who match their goals and preferences. ” said Amy Ayerault, president of Evernorth Behavioral Care Group. “By creating a simple care experience, patients can focus on feeling better and clinicians can focus on providing best-in-class care.”
