Silva, 39, was expected to be managed carefully by Chelsea this season. However, due to injuries to his teammates, he has so far played every minute in the Premier League. The Brazilian explained how Pochettino has helped him stay in top condition despite his age.

Pochettino has helped me a lot with my fitness. Not that I was happy, but I was in my comfort zone. Everything seems fine and I feel good, but he manages to get me out of that area.

Thiago Silva has outlined a thorough recovery routine to maintain his performance. But he believes Pochettino recognizes when he needs an extra push physically beyond just routine. The veteran centre-back had not been injured prior to the Argentine’s arrival. However, Pochettino saw an opportunity to take Silva’s fitness to another level this season.

His fresh ideas and tough training helped Silva find an even higher level while challenging Father Time. At an age when most players retire, Silva still sets the standard for Chelsea’s backline. Silva also gave fans a glimpse into his daily life.

“I have to wake up around 8 a.m. and be here.” [at Cobham] By 8:45am. I arrive, have some coffee, do my pre-workout stuff, and train. I do post-training recovery here at the club, then go home and rest for two hours in the hyperbaric chamber. When I wake up, a team of experts prepares me to continue my recovery.

There is food, afternoon snack, dinner and supplements. I make boots at home and try to be with my family.I sometimes take my kids with me. [who are in Chelsea’s academy] And I watch a little bit of training. Anyway, the next day is the same. And next. So lately I’ve been doing more recovery than actual work. Less is more. ‘

It is a testament not only to his professionalism but also to Pochettino’s customized coaching. Their strong relationship has led to them frequently collaborating to maximize Silva’s lifespan. A hero on and off the field, Silva’s impact at Stamford Bridge cannot be understated. He may not have been at the club for long, but his stay in Blue was an impactful one.
