CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte City Council has unanimously approved the sale of a building in East Charlotte to a popular local healthcare provider.
City leaders voted Monday to sell a building on Central Avenue in East Charlotte to Starmount Management, also known as StarMed.
StarMed plans to use the building as a pediatric and adolescent behavioral health facility, and says the project will create 124 jobs. A psychiatrist, psychologist, and clinical social worker are brought in.
The city originally planned to house IT staff after purchasing the building in 2018, but city leaders said the investment was too large.

According to StarMed, the proposed building plan will house 30 to 50 beds and offer a range of services for children.
