A North Carolina man with roots in Chattanooga has opened a store on the North Shore, bringing his hemp plant-based cannabidiol (CBD) dispensary concept from Asheville to the scenic city.
Jimmy Gallagher, who grew up in Chattanooga, hopes the expansion of his Asheville pharmacy onto Manufacturers Road will be the first of at least several more locations in the South.
“This is something unique,” said Gallagher, 44, adding that the store not only offers CBD products, but also an herbal drinks bar and lounge. “They can buy products, stay and spend time socializing.”
The businessman said in an interview Friday that he opened his first pharmacy in the city about five years ago. He was working in real estate, but after talking with a former colleague of his who had gone to Colorado to grow hemp, he came up with the idea for his own business.
