BATON ROUGE – STR8W8 Cannabis, the CBD and smoke shop just off LSU’s campus, has permanently closed its doors.
Workers spent much of Wednesday loading moving trailers. Former general manager Brutus Rayburn said the law, which took effect over the summer, was to blame.
“The state’s new law is hurting the industry, including small businesses like ours,” Rayburn said. “Customer footfall decreased and our most popular items were removed from shelves, negatively impacting in-store business. The reconfiguration took a lot of effort.”
In June, a week before the new law took effect, smoking areas were raided by ATC and issued with hefty fines.
“They decided to seize a lot of products that were on the approval list, which really hurt us and our customers. This was another major turning point,” Rayburn said. Ta.
This law changed the percentage of THC allowed in products such as edibles and the number of ounces a package contains.
“That’s forced a lot of companies like ours to go back to the blueprint and develop new products, which some companies don’t have the ability to do,” Rayburn said.
Another adversity that will occur next week is Flavored e-cigs that are not FDA approved. 60% of e-cigarette products on the market will be removed from shelves, including the popular Elf Bar.
