Before we declared “workout” to be a good idea, people were walking, biking, riding places, working, lifting heavy weights, dancing, playing games. I was active as a by-product of other things, such as doing things.
Can you add something fun and active to your life? Go dancing, walk or bike to run errands, join a sports league, volunteer work that involves manual labor. Can I participate in or do anything else? It is meaningful and exercise is just the result.
If that’s not possible, Plan B is to break the habit by rearranging the space in your home and the layout of your refrigerator and pantry. Identify ruts such as sofas, TVs, and snacks, eliminate furniture arrangements that enable them, and make different decisions by shopping differently. Think of it as a bit of mental chess against your opponent, the sedentary urge.
There is also the opposite view that “motivation” has nothing to do with life-prolonging measures such as going to work. just go. right? It’s the same thing.
· First, try something you loved as a kid. Was it biking, dancing, team sports? Then reconfigure its benefits. For me, it’s 75% for mental health. Finally, start by setting a goal of 5 minutes a day.
· I finally realized that the best exercise is the one you actually do. I always told myself I could train YouTube videos for free at home. I never did. I decided to rearrange my budget to go to a fancy gym. I’m there almost every day and have all kinds of fun classes.
· Start small. Can you stretch while watching TV? Up and down stairs? Walk around the block? Would you like to watch a 5 minute Yoga With Adriene video? A 7 minute workout?
・I will never betray those who rely on me. I started rowing when I was an adult, but if you don’t come, the boat won’t be able to sail, and other people will be affected.
· Maybe you want a distraction? Listen to a podcast while walking or meet and talk with friends.
· I thought of exercise as a chore. A friend casually said that running is “me” time free from kids, responsibilities, etc. Suddenly, I started thinking of exercise as a reward for myself. Big change!
·please take care of yourself. It’s hard to move on in a world that makes you feel like you’re not doing enough. My motto: Something is better than nothing.
· Everyone has a different circadian rhythm and schedule. Exercise whenever it’s most convenient for you.
· Dance around the kitchen while waiting for the microwave, coffee, and more. No, it won’t make you toned, but it’s better than sitting around all day.
・I bought a Wii Fit. It is interesting. Burn most of your calories laughing.
· I play “beer league” hockey. Fun motivates me to get up at 6am. Getting up at 6am is something I rarely get up for other errands. Find an adult league for your favorite sport. There are all levels.
・I got a part-time job that requires me to move my body a lot. You’ll have less sore muscles each week, and you’ll also get paid unlike going to the gym.
