The temporary public policy exemption is in effect until October 6, 2024.
When submitting the application, applicants must provide a unique medical ID number obtained from a previous medical examination.
Applicants ineligible under this temporary public policy will be required to undergo an IME in accordance with their normal medical screening procedures.
The announcement comes as Canada grapples with a rising immigration backlog exacerbated by the pandemic. According to the latest data, over 2.6 million applicants are still awaiting review.
