Big Sean admitted that he once suffered from “depression,” recalling a time when he felt so overwhelmed with negative thoughts that he nearly gave up rapping.

“Before I started rapping for Ye, I found this list and wrote it down. I wasn’t really interested, I was just busy. I was in high school. I saw a list that said, ‘GOOD Music, No. 1. No. 2 Roc-A-Fella. No. 3 Shady Records. No. 4 Grand Hustle. No. 5 Interscope,'” the 36-year-old explained.
He continued, “There was a list of the top five labels that I wanted to sign with. GOOD Music was number one, so I saw that and started on that path. It was one of those signs, one of those little things that I needed to realize: ‘I can do this. I met Ye and I rapped for him and he said he wants to sign me.'”
Of that moment of waiting, Big said, “I just materialized and visualized the paperwork coming. At that time, that whole year, I was so depressed and I wanted to give up so badly.”
