Mike White and Kathy Delgado know that mental health care is important on a daily basis.
That’s why the pair teamed up again for the Behind the Mask gala, a fundraising event to raise awareness about mental health.
The event will take place on Saturday, November 12th from 6-10pm in Ballroom A at the Albuquerque Convention Center. For tickets and more information, visit behindthemaskabq.com.
The event was inspired last year when Delgado woke up one day and decided he wanted to create an event to raise money for a local non-profit working to raise awareness of mental health. did.
“I put out a feeler and my friend knew Mike and how he could host a 505 food fight,” Delgado says. It was a hit. Everyone felt like they were involved.”
White is the chef and owner of High Point Grill & Taproom on Albuquerque’s West Side.
This year, the pair decided to stick with their winning formula.
Delgado said this year’s event will feature tapas, desserts and culinary entertainment. Formal attire is required.
“There are a lot of competing chefs,” says White. “They all wanted the opportunity to help out for good reasons.”
There will be a silent auction with crestline, music by guest speakers, and a private chef dinner.
Delgado says there will be an opportunity for guests to donate instead of participating in the silent auction.
Proceeds will be donated to two NM non-profit organizations.
The Capeless Heroes Foundation, which helps support and meet the needs of first responders, veterans, and frontline workers; and Breaking The Silence New, which supports and educates children in grades 4-12 about mental health and suicide prevention. Mexico.
White always wants to raise awareness when it comes to mental health.
He says that a lot of the time people don’t know help is out there, so they just deal with it in silence.
“I went through a mental health battle,” he says. “It takes effort to learn how to feel good and keep it at bay.”
