Amid a key move to protect public health, authorities have launched crackdowns on Ayurvedic Kuwak, which is operated from tents arranged between different regions of Sri Vijaya Pram. These Quacks, which often arrive in groups, set up temporary operations throughout the city and provide suspicious treatment for a variety of illnesses, including conditions that mainstream medicine believes are untreated.
This troublesome trend is repeated in cities. These fraudulent practitioners have been working for a while before packing up and returning to the mainland. Their so-called remedies, lacking any form of quality control or regulatory approval, poses serious health risks to residents who do not suspect they will fall prey to their false promises.
The Nicobar Times previously highlighted the threat of these Ayurvedic kakks, which led to a temporary decline in their activities. However, recently, fresh waves have resurfaced, setting up shops in various parts of the city.
In a recent operation, the Nicobar Times, accompanied by police officers, witnessed officials from the vice-chairman’s office and demolished a tent near Joggers Park, where such Ayurvedic Kwok was run.
The swift action is commendable because it aims to protect public health and prevent islanders from becoming victims of these misconduct. By taking decisive steps, the government sent a strong message that such illegal operations would not be tolerated in Sri Vijaya Pram.
