Arnold Schwarzenegger shares a healthy eating checklist

In a recent edition of The Daily Pump newsletter, Arnold Schwarzenegger shared a healthy eating checklist.

“Many diet books and experts try to convince you that there is a ‘best’ diet. But it’s a game you can’t win, and it’s a big reason why so many people struggle with weight.

“If you want to move away from the hamster wheel diet, it can help to look for general trends rather than specific eating styles. I have found that it depends on your eating habits.

“In this study, regardless of genetic risk, there were dietary behaviors that led to less body fat, more lean body mass, and better overall health, including cutting out carbs, avoiding gluten, and reducing body weight.” I have found that it has nothing to do with trying to detox.

Healthy habits include:

  • Eat 400 grams or more of fruits and vegetables per day (for reference, this is about 3 fruits and 2 cups of vegetables)
  • Keep total dietary fat under 30% of total daily calories (meaning you can eat up to 65 grams of fat per day if you eat 2,000 calories)
  • Limit saturated fat to 10% (or less) of your daily caloric intake
  • Limit sugar to less than 10% of your total daily calories
  • Eat 25 grams (or more) of fiber each day
  • Consume at least 3500 mg of potassium (potassium is found in many foods such as potatoes, avocados, bananas, oranges, green vegetables, dairy products, cashews, beans, lentils, and salmon)

“Eating habits can give you some good recommendations without telling you exactly what to eat,” added Schwarzenegger. So instead of overthinking your need for one style of eating, focus on the big picture categories.”

Schwarzenegger shares recovery best practices

“The Austrian Oak” explained some of the best practices for recovery.

“How much rest do you need between training sessions? If you’re not a beginner, you may need less than you think,” said Arnold Schwarzenegger. “One of the most common beliefs is that you need to rest your body for at least 48 hours to train the same muscles again. You’ll want to wait until Wednesday at the earliest to train those muscles. Results: Despite exercising for many days in a row, daily training did not adversely affect performance, and even led to improvement.

“In this study, participants performed only two sets of 11 exercises. (There is one small but important limitation that we will address in a moment.) By the end of the four days, many participants were actually doing more reps on the fourth day of the workout than on the third.

“What to do with it? First and foremost, the study focused on advanced lifters. If you’re a beginner or intermediate lifter, your body may take longer to recover. I wasn’t taking each set until I failed.Instead, I was told to leave at least one rep in the tank. The more lifting experience combined with the push to fail, the more often It’s now possible to train, recover, and still stay strong.

“This is good news for those who need to settle into shorter, more frequent workouts. If you can hit the gym a few days a week, you can get amazing results without burning out your body.
One note: participants experienced high levels of fatigue. It didn’t affect the results, but be careful if you’re looking to train this way for a long period of time. ”
