TJ Holmes talks about his mental health and how Amy Robach witnessed it all.
T.J. Holmes has had a difficult and lonely life with his mental health, but he had someone who saw him through everything that happened to him.
Holmes, 46, revealed on the TV show: “I’ve only talked superficially about the work I’ve been doing with my mental health.” Amy and TJPodcast for Tuesday, March 19th.
“In 2015 I was diagnosed with moderate depression, but I didn’t do anything about it. I didn’t change anything in my habits. I didn’t take antidepressants. . I didn’t go to therapy. I didn’t do anything for about four years or more,” he said.
According to Holmes, his GMA3: What you need to know Coworker-turned-lover Amy Robach was a witness to the whole thing.
“I just let it get worse, and you were a witness to my four years of getting worse,” he said. “And you didn’t even understand what was going on.”
“I was worried about you,” Robach replied. “You don’t have a poker face. It’s obvious when you’re upset, sad, or whatever. It’s all over. It’s not just your face. It’s your body. That’s how you treat yourself. It carries. Everything changes and changes.”
That’s when Roebuck decided to do something about Holmes’ mental health.
“You want to help, so I tried to help, but at the end of the day, you’re the one who has to pull yourself up,” she explained. “It’s up to you to find out how to change and change. Whether it’s through prescriptions, a therapist, or a friend.”
Mr Holmes said he was now in a much better place regarding his issues and encouraged running, saying the side effects of running were “all good”.
