Newswise — John Knightly, MD, FAANS has been named Vice President of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS). He will serve as the organization’s vice president until his 2024 annual science conference in Chicago next spring.
Dr. Knightley is a neurosurgeon with a subspecialty interest in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, former president of Atlantic Neurosurgical Specialists and Altair Health, and director of quality at the Atlantic Neuroscience Institute. Besides his clinical research, his other professional interests and areas of research include health policy, outcomes, registry science, and quality improvement. He has served as Chairman of his AANS/CNS Joint Section on Spine and Peripheral Nerve Disorders, and Chairman of his AANS/CNS Quality Improvement Workforce, and his AANS Representative to his Washington Commission on AANS/CNS. I came. He is currently co-chair of the Washington Commission Neurosurgical Quality Council.
Dr. Knightly is currently Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of the NeuroPoint Alliance and has been appointed a founding member of the executive committee of the newly created American Spine Registry. He is also Vice President and Board Member of the American Board of Neurosurgery and has been appointed to several committees within the AANS, CNS, American College of Surgeons, and the National Forum for Quality.
