From the Netherlands to Turkey, New Zealand to Montana, Quebec City to the Bahamas and everywhere in between, 115 Daanim, Labonim and Casylass organization officials gathered at the Sofitel Hotel in Montreal this week for a two-day conference to discuss contemporary Cachulas issues.
The AKO Vaadim Conference is an annual gathering organized by the Associated Kashrus Organizations (AKO) where leading kosher certification bodies and institutions come together to align standards, share resources, compare experiences and make connections.
This year it was hosted by MK, Montreal’s kosher certification body. “The presenters we attended were diverse and covered many different topics,” said MK Director Ravi. Saul Emanuel. Topics covered include gluten-free products bracho and jaracho, kashering the metal carts used to move raw tuna to the steam room of the production facility, and his AKO standards for hash gacha for members.
The meeting was honored by Dayan’s attendance Aaron Danner In London he addressed crowds and gave many individual consultations.rabbi Uli Deutsch, Ms. Love of Forest Park Kehira in Lakewood presented the participants with chizuku.rabbi Menahem Meir Weissmadl Nitra’s work also graced the competition.
Many of the 115 attendees at the event represented the largest number of kosher certifiers, but many more represented certifiers in far-flung cities, such as remote fisheries and coconut production plants. Many attendees commented on the apparent feeling that the conference was in every sense a ridiculous Shem Shamayim. More than 100 Jews gathered to promote Kasyrus today.

Monday night’s panel discussion allowed attendees to pose unique Kashloth questions from the field to Rabbi, as well as Mr. Danner and Mr. Weissmadl. Yonathan Bynyomin Weiss, Chief Rabbi of Montreal and Av Beis Din of the Rabbinic Court of Montreal. Another panel addressed Kashlus’ issues arising from home businesses.
Attendees particularly benefited from the expertise of MK’s Baith Ding, a seasoned labonim, who demonstrated some of the industry’s highest standards in presentations on ethics, the use of video cameras to supplement hash gachas at butcher shops, and cooperation and integrity in Kashurth.
Participants left with new knowledge, new relationships, and, at times, an overwhelmingly “core” but strengthened sense that their responsibility was Avodas Hakodesh, a source of great tizk for Kral Israel.
