A Week of Working Out

last week, My dad and I just got a Planet Fitness membership. Except for the YMCA, I had never been a member of a gym before, but had never actually worked out at one.

Anyway, we got our membership. We went and worked out together for a full week today. So, I wanted to write about my impressions of the gym so far and her experience of this week’s workout. It doesn’t have to be like a Planet Fitness review, but generally how it feels to go to a gym and be in that kind of environment. It’s pretty unfamiliar territory for me, and I’m sure it’s a difficult one for many of you as well.

When I got my membership, I wanted a professional to create a workout plan for me. I wasn’t going to go in there and pretend I knew what I was doing on those machines. It means that you can talk about it and they will put together a regimen for you to follow.

The flow of consultation I thought was quite different from the actual process. I expected her to explain her goals. She then told me which machine I should use or if I should do more cardio than weights. But it became more than that. After I told her both my long-term and short-term goals, she started by creating a five-day regimen for me and wrote everything down in a packet.

Day 1, upper body. Day two and he day four, core + cardio. Day 3 lower body. Day 5, full body workout.

Each page of the packet is a different day and lists all the machines/exercises I am supposed to do along with the number of reps and sets to be done. Not only did they go and teach me how to use them correctly, but they also helped me figure out what weight I should be running on every machine, and wrote that weight down on the packet with the person in charge etc.

He was very kind, and I was worried that I didn’t know how to use the recommended machine, so I was surprised that he carefully taught me one by one. I no longer worry about looking stupid when I exercise. I’m sure we’ve all probably laughed at photos of people using gym equipment incorrectly. I didn’t want to be one of those people.

So that took care of most of my anxiety about working out in front of other people. I know. I don’t want people to see me sweating, red in the face, and out of breath. At least that’s how I feel. But honestly, this past week of him has proven them to be true. no one is looking at you The human eye is naturally drawn to movement, so I never felt like someone was doing more than making me look funny, judging me, or glancing in a direction. Honestly everyone is focused on themselves and their training.

I say all this as a look around manyI don’t know why I look around so much. As I was walking on the treadmill, I could see that I was just looking around the room and literally no one was looking at me. not to

Overall, this first week I was definitely nervous about being in a gym environment and fearing being judged.

Anxiety aside, how’s your first week going?

The answer should come as no surprise.

Getting started can be demoralizing. When you realize how breathless running can be and the fact that you can’t do a single push-up, you’ll never want to try again. You cannot sit on a board or wall for more than 10 seconds. Run the lowest possible weights on the shoulder press machine. You can feel the heartbeat in your ears after running for 2 minutes straight. You feel bad about yourself and your limitations.

But if you don’t try hard, you won’t get better.i have to try If you want to be able to do it, do push-ups actually do it.i have to try hold the board as long as possible try Complete all three sets of tricep curls. You can’t just sit around and hope that one day you’ll magically be able to climb the stairs of your own home without dying. We have to work hard to make it happen. And while that sucks, waiting for that magical day is even worse.

So try crunches and planks for a few more weeks, bicep curls and leg presses for a few more weeks, and a few more.
