Roanoke, Virginia – Imagine a place where you can relax, break things and walk away stress-free.
A new business in Roanoke promises to do just that — it’s called “The Stress Factory.”
Once inside and geared up for safety, staff will place any breakable items in your room for you and you can play with your arsenal of choice, which is far better than your average rage room.
In the Stress Factory, visitors choose from a selection of breakable objects, such as old TVs or glassware, and place them in a designated room. Equipped with tools such as bats and hammers, visitors can release stress through destruction.
Edward Day, president and CEO of Stress Factory, spoke about the motivation behind the venture: “I think this is extremely beneficial, especially as young people are becoming increasingly bored in cities. I grew up in the city myself, and an idle mind is the devil’s playground. So I wanted to create a space where people could channel their boredom into something constructive,” Day said.
The facility aims to offer more than just a place to smash things, featuring “decompression packages” to help customers move from the high-energy experience of smashing things to a more relaxed state.
“This is not a place where we bring you here, make you break something and then send you away with the same energy. Our goal is to bring you here so that you can transform that energy into something positive — to get you up there and then bring you down safely so you can release that energy in a safe, controlled space. And I’m talking about the decompression package that comes with all of our rage room options,” Day added.
The Stress Factory opened Friday and is already looking to expand its offerings to include food and beverages. The first of its kind in the Roanoke area, the establishment offers a unique approach to stress relief.
