Convenience and price are often top of mind when eating on the go, and fast food restaurants are often the go-to when you need a quick bite while on the go.
It's no secret that fast food isn't always healthy, but not all menu items or restaurant chains are created equal.
recent data pricelist.com analyzed the nutritional value of menu items from 47 different restaurant chains in the United States and ranked them to find the highest calorie options at each restaurant.
Perhaps more noteworthy than the chains that are high on the list are the chains that are not. Chicago-based McDonald's, Burger King and KFC all avoided the top 10, despite being three of the most popular fast food chains in the country.
Topping the infamous list is Hardee's, a set of 12 pieces of fried chicken and six biscuits, containing a whopping 6,490 calories, more than three times the recommended daily allowance.
In second place is Papa John's Philly Cheesesteak XL Stuffed Crust, which has a whopping 4,590 calories.
Rounding out the top three are Moe's nachos with all the toppings, totaling 4,334 calories, not far behind Papa John's heaviest option.
Other chains in the top 10 include Little Caesars, Pizza Hut, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Jimmy John's, all of which offer menu items containing more than 2,000 calories.
As for what happened to the most famous chains, Subway's most caloric menu topped McDonald's, Burger King and Kentucky Fried Chicken all, with the two options coming in 13th at 1,720 calories.
Burger King's Bacon King Burger came in 14th place, just behind Subway, with a sandwich containing 1,710 calories.
McDonald's rounds out the top 20 with its Big Breakfast with Hotcakes, which has 1,340 calories.
As for KFC, the world-famous fried chicken chain didn't appear until near the bottom of the list, with its chicken pot pie coming in at 720 calories, ranking 44th out of 47 chains.
